Now that the weather is warming the polytunnel plants will come into their own. There are plenty of seedlings of all varieties…peppers, aubergines, brassicas, salads and flowers too. Ready to eat are herbs and hundreds of spring onions, mange tout, celery and even one red strawberry. There are pots of sweet peas that should go outside now that the danger of night frost is passing and a container full of “poundland” lillies that did well last year and are surpassing themselves this year. It’s so exciting, but all must be kept watered in the heat of the polytunnel otherwise the plants on the central table will dry out and die. The potatoes, tomatoes and cabbages in the raised beds at the sides of the tunnel are watered with an automatic system so that relieves some of the manual labour.
And just because the blossom is so beautiful, here is a picture of one of the cherry trees.
