We collected some bales of hay from neighbours whose horses will only eat top quality fodder.  “Our cows” we said, “are not so picky”.  How wrong we were.  As if to underline the point Lucy set to work eating the freshly strewn straw this afternoon instead of the hay in her manger.  We hope that the ducks won’t start their own rebellion asking for heaters in their duck house or some such nonsense!
