The ducks have been dabbling all day in muddy puddles and quacking contentedly.  Chris has repaired the trailer and painted and adjusted the gate at the back of the barn. As we approach the shortest days of the year I am getting ready to feed the poultry and put the birds to bed …..they have only just got up, or so it seems.
