President Sisi arrives to a chorus of demonstrations. My letters complain at the way I was treated by a member of The Met as I stood peacefully ( just over two weeks ago) hoping to catch a glimpse of The First Lady of China. The Chinese visit was also a cause for demonstrations in and around the capital but here, in Roothams Green, we concern ourselves with overgrown footpaths and fenced off bridle ways and stay out of the way of the local constabulary!

Roothams Green sounds like Bearwood: overgrown footpaths and blocked off bridleways. I would argue that these are things that matter to our communities. But I am glad you complained about the over-zealous Met.
It would be easy to cocoon ourselves here in the relative (apart from the dangerous roads!) safety of the Village & not lift our heads to what is happening in the wider world. It is good to know that you, Gillian, and many of our other neighbours, refuse to allow our isolation to blinker us to wider concerns. Well done. I hope you will let us know how the Met respond.
