St Neots gives the Freedom of the Town as mum and I stop to do our shopping

Mum and I went to St Neots this morning via Tesco in Eynesbury.  We were diverted ( along with hundreds of other cars) all along the outside of the town by police vans and scores of police officers until, finally, we found our way to the library car park.  We had arrived in town on the morning of the march of the Royal Anglian Regiment through the High Street marking the grant of the Freedom of St Neots to the regiment.  We stood next to a retired RAF pilot whose nephew was the standard bearer for the parade and mum and he reminisced about The War, falling standards and the state of the world!  We all shook hands when we parted and hoped that our paths would cross again.  Don’t soldiers and policemen look young these days or is it just that I have become old?
