Geese settling well on Goose Island and duckling meets his father

The geese slept on Goose Island last night. The gander and one goose went into their new house but the other goose couldn’t work out how to get out of the water and she settled into the bank for the night, taking cover in the tall reeds.  When I went down to open the goose house early this morning the silly goose had managed to find her way onto the Island.  Hooray. Now the three of them are eating and drinking but refusing to swim in the pond whilst they acclimatise to their new surroundings.

Back in the orchard we have allowed Mrs Duck No 1 and her adolescent duckling to come out of the duck nursery for the day so that the drake can sit with his offspring and first wife.  Mrs Duck No 2 is sitting near the duck house refusing to mix with them at the moment. Geese and ducks are delightful and a law unto themselves.
