They look pretty – twinkling red jewels drawing the eye and hand to pluck them from the bushes, but the sweet tasting raspberry is like a dream fruit.  As soon as it is picked it begins to disintegrate and by the time it has been washed and checked there is nothing left but a soft mush of seeds and juice which can be made into……jam.
