Early this morning we caught the four new nearly grown up ducklings and their mother and removed them from the nursery pen aka the duck ark.  We put them in the pen near the kitchen with the three fully grown ducklings from the first brood that hatched at The Gables ( offspring of Mrs Duck no 1 who is busy sitting on a second clutch of eggs in a different pen).

I decided to clean out the duck house where all 7 ducklings and Mrs Duck no 2 will live and I dusted the house with powder to prevent red mite infestation and laid down fresh straw. The House is ready, swept and clean but the ducklings are fighting a war with Mrs Duck no 2 protecting her four ducklings from the other three and everybody quacking at everyone else and nipping each other round the neck.  It’s like West Side Story goes Bedfordshire.  Let’s hope we don’t have to call the cops!
