At this time of year the paths are obscured by the tall crops and if the farmers don’t cut a channel for us then we have to push through thistles and ears of corn and barley. Then all of a sudden the footpath comes to an end and we have to walk along the side of a field which is not strictly for walkers. We trust that the farmers will tolerate four women and two dogs who are out to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air whilst admiring the ripening crops.
