As I sat in an urban park cafe this afternoon, with my grandson, I looked up at the high brick wall surrounding the tables and chairs. There were what looked like security boxes mounted thirty feet off the ground. As I watched them I realised that they were bird boxes and into and out of the boxes were flying great tits and, in one box, a sparrow bringing worms to the open mouth of its nestlings.
Nobody else seemed to even notice the boxes but well done to the park and the cafe proprietor. They made me smile.
