Heather led me along familiar and new paths, so overgrown at this time of year that they would be treacherous to those unfamiliar with the ups and downs, the ditches and bridges. I was safe with my guide.

Along one of the ancient tracks that we have walked before stands Cherry Orchard Farm. It lies empty with some of its outbuildings fallen into disrepair.

The brother and sister who used to live in and run the farm were stalwarts of the tiny chapel in Chapel Lane. Now they have passed on and the congregation has dwindled to a handful of folk who attend the Sunday service.
As we re entered the village we pushed past the flowering oil seed rape plants that can be seen (and smelled) in so many of the fields in this part of the country. Thank you Heather it was a wonderful walk.
