Artichokes for lunch and a visit to the calves

Our dear friend Sara drove from London to spend Bank Holiday Monday with us at The Gables. We ate baby artichokes, which are growing profusely in the garden, Gables green salad with rolls and cheese followed by rhubarb jam cake and fruit.

Later, after walking and talking and enjoying the sunshine, we went over to see Kates’s calves and Mollie the Dales pony. We are sending Sara home with a pot of basil and a jar of tomato chutney.
