A walk along the footpaths towards the country park and then across to the churchyard where, as luck would have it, the congregants were leaving the Sunday morning service. So we were able to show our guests the interior of St Denys before they locked the heavy church door. It’s sad that the church has to be locked to prevent thieves stealing artefacts but maybe, one day, the wardens will be able to keep the building open on certain days of the week.
