There’s a new female at The Gables

After the duckling drowned (or was it pushed?) we decided to move the duck and the three remaining ducklings into their own covered pen in the orchard.  Drakes are known to turn on their young and we didn’t want to take any chances.  However, we didn’t want to leave the (killer?) drake pining on his own in the duck run. On the very same day that we moved mother duck and ducklings we located another call duck in Stotfold and Jeremy went to fetch her.  She is a beautiful bird, not as noisy as mother duck and she has settled in well.  If we are lucky she might even start laying……sit on some eggs and then the problem will start all over again! Let’s wait and  see.
