And then there were six.

Both geese are now competing to lay eggs and now there are six.  Chris set about making a double shelter for the two females so that they can sit on separate nests once they feel the urge to incubate their eggs.  There can be fisticuffs ( or fistibeaks) between competing geese who might push each other off the nest so we hope they will eventually choose a site each and stick to it.  They can lay up to 18 eggs each before they hunker down so there may be a long wait for goslings.

The silkies enjoyed an early evening treat of turnip tops and we will eat the roots…..cooked and mashed with some cream and black pepper.
