The scaffolders arrived early to lace their steel poles in and out of the wooden barn beams. At the same time the skip arrived to take accumulated rubbish from all the buildings under renovation and VIc and Matt of Stamford Traditional Builders got stuck into the digging the footings for the steelwork, hitting ironstone as they dug into the foundations. Meanwhile,on the other side of the construction site, Peter and his digger were uncovering a broken land drain that has been gushing water deep underground.

Chris finished renovating an old chicken house ( more of that tomorrow) and then donned some spare wellies to help Peter connect a plastic pipe to the split clay drain. At one point Jeremy, Peter, Chris, Vic and the driver from Shanahans were all scratching their heads, digging through clay and trying to solve the conundrum of the pool of water deep in the ground. Five heads are better than one, if they know what they are talking about…..and they do ( I hope).
