“Nearly right! Grafting and propagating done by the East of England Apples and Orchards Project. Laxtons now longer operate out of Bedford – not sure if they are still even trading. They had huge orchards in Bedford early last century and developed loads of fruit varieties which are still in existence. The orchards are now sadly under the housing along Goldington Road and a lot of Putnoe I think. Still loads of huge old pear and apple trees in old back gardens which date from that period!”
