And what could be more fun than a morning walk on muddy footpaths with two local friends in glorious winter sunshine followed by an hour of digging manure from a huge heap of well rotted cow dung and putting it in the trailer to bring home to The Gables. Then Jeremy and I had to unload the manure and barrow it down to the fruit bushes and rake it around the bases of the plants to nourish the soil and the roots so that, with luck, we will have good crops next summer.
