The damp and the rain have swollen the wooden door that opens and closes on a set of rudimentary runners in the Fav House. This morning I couldn’t open it at all so had to lift the two hens and Joe cockerel out through the roof. They were not impressed and one of the hens nipped me on the hand. So this afternoon Jeremy has cut and sawn and I have assisted by holding in place the door attached to a hinge recycled from our old house windows. Now we just need a fox proof metal hook and eye and then the hens can walk in and out of the house in a dignified manner.
