Given to to me by my late grandma Katy whose young man, a New Zealand soldier who she met in London on his way to fight in France, sent them to her from “somewhere in .France”.  He never returned.  One of the fallen.

Later Grandma Katy married Sam who had fought in and survived the Battle of The Somme and forever had nightmares of rats running over him as he slept in the trenches.
