The ground in the poultry run has become muddy and slippery. The straw in the hen houses has become wet and dirty so it’s time to clean out the houses and put in fresh straw and to lay sweet smelling barley straw on  the ground.  We took the nitrogen rich used straw and put it in the holes into which we planted some new gooseberry bushes and the hens we’re delighted to scratch around in their new ground cover.
