After many years of benign neglect, Jeremy decided that the field hedges needed to be sorted. Our friend and neighbour’s son in law, Daniel, is experienced in the art of hedge laying ( amongst his many other talents which include sheep shearing). He has driven over from Lincolnshire to make a start of cutting out the dead and dying wood from the tangle of hedgerow and he will make a lattice of the remaining trees and shrubs. He will fill in any gaps with hazel – which will probably be delivered tomorrow. Once he has finished there will be a mighty pile of wood to burn and in a couple of years the hedge will be healthier and stock proof and full of berries and rosehips again.
