Little owls by night and the “Grass Roots Meet” by day

Wonderful sights are airborne here in Bedfordshire. As I drove through “the cut” last night and round the final sharp, bend before the home straight to The Gables I came across a “little owl” sitting on the Public Footpath sign.  We we were both dazzled by each other, he by my headlights, me by his unexpected appearance.  I reached for my ipad but he flapped his small wings rapidly and flew off into the night.

And this morning I opened the back door to a strange sound.  I looked skyward and saw the wondrous sight of scores of hot air balloons gliding over the fields, intermittently powering them with bursts of flames to keep them afloat.  The cows and sheep just kept on chewing the cud and munching the grass, oblivious to the glorious sight of the annual Grass Roots Meet at nearby Riseley.
