In the spring a pair of great tits nested and raised their young in the Victorian letterbox on the side of the garages. We spent hours watching the parents fly endlessly to and fro with food for the young until suddenly, one day, they had left the nest and were gone. Today the builders have arrived to render the outside of the garages so they needed to open the box and take it down before beginning work. Inside was the nest and lots of feathers which we will replace when we put the box back on the wall.
