I was walking home from a meeting at the village hall an hour ago when I came across this field of golden winter barley ripe for harvesting. It is just across the road from where I live but obscured by a hedge.

The village hall was full of local people who are concerned that phase one of the governments plans to get the country connected to superfast broadband will not include our village or surrounding hamlets. A staggering statistic emerged at the meeting. Arable farms only employ one worker per thousand acres these days. The countryside survives on small businesses…..so give us superfast broadband now!
Looks like oats to me from the photo but it would need a close up photo to be sure. Hope the chickens are well
