New moon, road kill and home at last

Image

I drove home from London tonight with the new moon hanging low in the night sky.  On the country road I always drive slowly as the headlights startle rabbits, hares and badgers.  Two rabbits hopped together across the road in front of my car and half a mile further along I had to drive around a dead badger that lay, as if sleeping, motionless on the road with its black and white snout sadly lying on its chest.  Maybe the road kill is why we have seen a number of buzzards flying over this stretch of tarmac?

I was delighted to enter the open gate, walk through the front door and savour the smell of a freshly cooked vegetable casserole.  Thank you Jeremy.
