A Blustery Bedfordshire day

After a sunny Saturday we awoke to a strong wind and a squirrel eating the “fat ball” on the bird feeder.  I let the squirrel munch away thinking that he too might be in need of some sustenance as well as the birds.  Friends arrived from London for a tour of The Gables, a walk in the field, a ride on the tractor and a hearty lunch of lentil soup, quiche, potato salad, bagels and cheese followed by homemade jam tarts filled with Colmworth plum jam.

We so enjoy sharing our new home with our friends and family.  All are welcome to come and sit or dig or walk and certainly to chat around the table near the blazing woodburner whilst eating and drinking and putting the world to rights.

Have a good week.

  1. It is wonderful to read how much you are enjoying your new life. I especially enjoy all the nature notes. Watch out for Herons as they like to gobble up Goldfish as we learnt to our cost when we had a Pond stocked with Goldfish. Have you a Reservoir or Lake nearThe Gables? “Our” Herons were based on The Welsh harp not too far away from our lovely Wembley home
